Women Who Dared by Linda Skeers

I love discovering interesting tidbits in history -- especially when they involve lesser-known women who have done extraordinary things! When I was researching WOMEN WHO DARED, I chose women who inspired me, andgave me goosebumps! I wanted to sit down next to each one of them and just listen to  their stories for hours -- and then give them a high-five and a fist bump. I mean, Annie Edson Taylor went over Niagara Falls in a barrel on her 63rd birthday -- how cool is that?

  2. Love this! I remember going to the Library of Congress nearly two decades ago to research Bessie Coleman — and then the first book about her came out and I put that project aside, but she still inspires me.

She's such an amazing woman it may be time for another book about her! Just look for a fresh angle and go for it!

    1. Judy,
SO many women have been overlooked by the history books! It was an honor to shine a spotlight on just a few!

  6. I was in a play recently and had to "read" a book onstage, so I used WOMEN WHO DARED. At one rehearsal, I was onstage and got so involved with Linda's stories that I didn't even hear my cue! Fascinating women, excellent writing!

  7. I'm 66 this month so I'm a bit late jumping in the barrel... But got to get this book. A treasure for my 11 yr old granddaughter. But then I'll have to find her a barrel...
